Wanna know what you’re really made of? Try doing something new. Something you have never done before. Especially something you would never imagine yourself doing in a million years! We tend to prefer a guarantee of success before attempting to do most things. I mean there is nothing wrong with that concept. The labyrinth of daily doing is challenging enough most of the time. It’s just not a very creative way to experience life.
You cannot grow spiritually ( or creatively ) if you are too afraid of looking like fool every now and then.
I have made a pact with myself to look like Dora Dummy at least three times a day no matter what. Thankfully, I have no trouble at all keeping this particular promise.
I am currently in the process of adding to my mad skill set. This does not include learning how to play Bunco and memorizing the lyrics to a Cee Lo Green song. I decided I have been riding on my natural abilities for far too long. I know if I really want my life to look a certain way I have to embrace being humbled by my mistakes. Or at least try “humbled” on for size. Yes, I am aware it may be a tight fit. So what!
It has been a week full of Mama’s-Got-A Brand-New-Bag and I’m kinda lovin’ it.
And if I can do it… you can do it!
I know the things I am asking my ol’ brain to accept are going to change my life in a positive prospering manner. My brain is happy to do this for me. Actually, my brain owes me one and she knows it. I’m feelin’ the love already. Ahhh… like a Summer breeze.
Here is a challenge for you.
Today do at least one thing you have been afraid to do. This can be anything at all. Anything from learning how to Tango to painting the hallway apple green. Just do it! Do anything at all other than getting a huge tattoo on your neck. Don’t get one on your face either, k?
I mean really. There is a limit to this stuff ya know. Please draw the line where body graffiti of any kind is concerned.
Start the doing today and don’t stop until you cannot think of one more beginner thing to do.
Your spirit will thank you.
