We are unavailable for any truly loving and fulfilling relationship as long as we are trapped in a committed relationship with the most controlling part of our own mind — our fear. - Karen Maezen Miller
It is the rare day that Courage will knock on your door with an invitation to The Dance and you will have your fancy dancing shoes on all ready to go. It is the rare day indeed. Most days we will have to gather up whatever shoes are lying around at the time, walk through the door unprepared, and move. Move forward, move up, move over, move to the music, MOVE. Move whether we are ready to groove or not.
Scary stuff.
What is even scarier is that mess in our heads keeping us from moving at all. That mess more commonly known as Fear.
The fear of failure. The fear of success. The fear of fear itself.
Do we have good reason to be in fear? Maybe.
For those of us who have been around longer than last year’s Chanel Spring Collection? We have probably been bamboozled a time or two. Probably, made a few rich mistakes of our own along the way. The thing is… this relationship we have with Fear is not just some Summer fling.
And it is not a tawdry complicated affair.
It is an on-going committed dysfunctional relationship and it feels like home! The discomfort is comforting because we are used to it. We rarely begin a day without it.
But I want to ask you something?
How would you feel? What would you do? Who would you be without it?
Without Fear.
Consider it.
If you faced the day unafraid of all of the what if’s, why’s, and WTH, that crop up when you are actually living a real life? What would you know instead?
You would know Joy.
You would know Faith.
You would be Fearless.
How do you do this? It’s simple. You break up with Fear.
You get a grip on Fear’s skinny little neck and move it on out! After all, it has been living rent free in your heart for far too long. Do it now before it takes up all the air in the room for one more day.
See, you don’t have to be Courageous. You can be as wimpy as ya wanna be.
You just have to move.
Fear will keep you riveted to the floor. Wanna know why?
The truth is as clear as a church bell ringin’ on a Sunday.
Fear can’t dance.
