I like to think of myself as someone who gets along with just about everyone. I enjoy people and even if we are not of like-mind I generally get a kick out of my polar opposites. Hey, I am not a person everyone can relate to. How many psychic pals does the average person have on their buddy list? I mean I am not only asking people to think outside of the box. I’m asking them to forget about the box altogether.
I appreciate it when someone cuts me some slack and at least tries to get to know me before they dis me.
This being said, I do think there is some serious truck in what the above quote from John Assaraff states. Being agreeable and accepting is one thing. Involving yourself with people you would never want to be like in a million years is entirely another.
I have recently been in a situation where I found myself surrounded by a group of people I would never dream of “being.” I enjoyed them for the most part but the differences were great. My way of thinking is a thousand miles west of their way of holding information.
I have never been one to drink the Kool-Aid. I only believe what I believe. What you believe is your business and I will not try to talk you out of it.
There are many ways to light a fire but the best way is to light a match. Some things. Some people. Some jobs. Some lifestyles. Some paradigms are not a match and that’s all there is to it.
I know what I know I know and it is my truth.
I will not and cannot stray from it.
Manipulating people is just not my thing.
I am not heavily invested in illusion. Those who manipulate others are so invested.
I like to keep it simple.
I cannot and do not hang out with anyone I would not want to be.
How about you?
