We Gather Together
Yesterday was Thanksgiving here in The States. There is an old Thanksgiving song we used to sing as children. The lyrics went something like this: ” We gather together to ask the Lord’s blessing; He chastens and hastens His will to make known.” It was one of those songs that have many verses but this is the verse I like.
I am not big on the HE and HIS factor in non-secular music. Goddess please! But the idea of gathering together at an abundant table to be blessed and to bless each other just appeals to me. And no doubt about it the hastening and chastening factor is not lost on me either. The Will of The Divine will always be made known. The older we become the faster it seems to manifest.
The answer is always going to be yes or no. The clarity is of which is chastened as time goes by.
This year I did not do much by way of preparing the big meal. I am laid up with a herniated disc and limping around. I couldn’t even sit long enough to peel potatoes or stand to help with the dishes. I threw a few dollars at the cost of the meal and my family did the work.
It was weird to sit there and be waited on. It was even weirder to not have dish pan hands and sore feet from draggin’ my tired self around the stove all day to “git er done.” What was really weird was that with no help from me the meal came together and was absolutely delicious! It occurred to me that I have trouble receiving and maybe a few control issues to go with. HAha!
I have to say being on the receiving end of the gift was a huge blessing to me. I felt supported, loved and cared for. Things I often don’t wait around long enough to feel cause I am too busy doing the clean-up after the party.
Been getting a lot of support concerning this back sitch as well. Phone calls from people I haven’t heard from in ages. Friends telling tales about their back problems and sciatica and what can be done to remedy it. I had no idea every other person I knew had this prob at least once. Every one of them said it started in the late Fall headed into Winter. Funny, huh?
Not really. Not when you consider the huge expectations we have surrounding this season.
Louise Hay relates lower back pain to fear of money, lack of financial and emotional support. I do believe Aunty Louise is right once again! Here are two of her Affirmations for back pain. Work ’em if you need ’em!
Lower back: “I trust the process of life. All I need is always taken care of. I am safe.”
Middle back: “I release the past. I am free to move forward with love in my heart.”
We are headed into this cray-cray time of year. Many of us have had several years of money worries due to the financial downturn. It’s stressful. When you are stressed you create problems with other humans that need not be. We all need to relax and enjoy the blessings we have which may not come in the form of a lotto win. If you cannot be the Hostess with the Mostest or Daddy Big Gifts this year… so what? Just show up and receive for once. Let someone else feel the glow of giving for a change. It can be a beautiful thing, ya know?
I want to be one of the first to wish you all Happy Holiday’s! May the Blessings begin!
