Cherish Is The Word
“Let those winds of change blow over my head. Id rather die while I’m living than live while I’m dead” – Jimmy Buffet
And the chorus goes; “I’m growing older but not up. My metabolic rate is pleasantly stuck.” Jimmy Buffet always was a card. If he isn’t “wastin’ away in Margaritaville” he is eating a “cheeseburger in paradise with an onion slice.” Aging gracefully or not so gracefully is a blessing I pray we will all have plenty of. A blessing you must reach a certain age to appreciate. Next Friday is Valentine’s Day. My favorite holiday!
We will never be too old to have a Valentine and celebrate the day. Hearts and flowers, chocolates and kisses, will forever rock! However, I know for myself, my expectation of this day is very different than it was even ten years ago. It is still about cherishing and being cherished. It is just that now I know it is far more important to cherish myself. The greatest love of all always was the love we allow ourselves to receive from our own hearts. It is more meaningful to us as we grow older because it is no longer optional.
Growing up is optional!
Growing wise is required.
Growing weary is to be expected.
Growing lovely is the goal.
I’ll be back with another FC on Valentine’s Day. By then I will be wiser. And if I am a little weary I will never admit to it. Which is the secret to keeping up with the cray cray. Just lie!
I will be more lovely – depending on your definition of lovely. And I will have had seven more days to learn how to cherish myself and tend to my heart so someone else won’t have to.
I will also be more grateful. Grateful for having the opportunity to grow older and to be my very own Valentine. I have an entire week to get this right. Cherish is the word.
We send… Love, Light and Oceans of Bliss for the Highest Good of All.
And so it is!
