And in the words of the great Smokey Robinson… “Mistakes, I know I’ve made a few. But I’m only human. You’ve made mistakes too.”
Yeah. The thing is, perfection is not an option. Keep it in mind while you’re slapping yourself upside the head for whatever slip your ego is suffering for at any given time. If we are able to remain humble when we have a hit the misses will hurt far less. It’s an art. It requires mad skills and a whole lotta love.
If the mistake you have made causes pain to another it is essential that you own it, apologize, and clean up the mess. It is bad enough someone else is living in the back draft of your solecism. Don’t make them sweep up after you as well. That whole insult to injury thing is tedious. Step up and do the laundry. If you are lucky you will be forgiven in due time. Make an effort to be a forgiver yourself – every little bit counts.
Sometimes we make a bad mistake for all the right reasons. We care too much and want to get it right so much that we put undue pressure on ourselves. That pressure causes us to overload and lose perspective. It messes with our concentration. We fall down and let ourselves and others down as a by product of our inability to detach and breathe. No one can do well and hyperventilate at the same time. Ya dig?
The blessing in making mistakes is that as we screw up we are learning how to get it right. Learning how to get it right is humbling.
Nothing wrong with humility is there?
Whatever you do don’t allow your mistakes to throw you into a high flying panic. Remain calm and keep the voice of your inner critic on mute. Don’t be afraid to try new things where you are sure to add new mistakes to your screw-up repertoire. We are here to create. Creation does not require a plan. Creativity requires expression and a willingness to be led by only a tiny bit of light in the darkness. If you trip on a stone or take a wrong turn every now and then… well, oops!
Don’t stop the music just because you made a bad move on the dance floor. RELAX, feel the rhythm and bust the next move.
Life tends to be more of a Jam than a Ballet anyway.
We send… Love, Light and Oceans of Bliss for the Highest Good of All.
And so it is!
