A heavy heart and a head full of dissatisfaction should tell you that change is gonna come. It happens to all of us. We go along at status quo for months at a time. Loving our loves. Working our gigs. Collecting those paychecks. Something “character building” happens to lays you low. And there you are.
You aren’t depressed. You aren’t happy. Nothing feels right. Nothing is really wrong. Your heart seems to have gained ten pounds overnight. It is physically difficult to bear the extra weight. You feel you may break from the strain. And… you could not care less. The best word I have ever been able to come up with for this state of being is flat-lining.
You already know that changes are heading your way. You have been in process for wanted change for awhile. Maybe you have taken some classes or gone to seminars. You committed to a self-improvement plan and most days you make it happen. This isn’t one of those days or weeks for that matter. Inertia has set in. Resistance rules. Finding the energy to be in the world has faded. You know that if you would just get going and do what must be done you would feel better. You cannot get going and relief is nowhere in sight.
What to do?
Take it a step at a time.
1) Find a self-care ritual that works for you and put it into play. My self-care ritual involves music, moonlight, and the sound of the ocean in the background. This ritual never fails me. Find yours. Lift your spirit and your heart will follow. This is not a clinical depression you are in. It is a period of protection from absorbing too much too soon.
2) Spend time with someone who is invested in your well-being. A dear friend. A relative. Your counselor. Someone who knows you well. Or at least well enough to know that this flat-liner before them is usually far more energetic and alive. They know your dreams and your heart. They want to be there to see you through this patch of blue. Do not isolate at this time. It won’t serve you. Isolation serves active creative periods only.
3) Give yourself a day or three to pull out of this phase. Once you recognize it for what it is, it shouldn’t take more than a little while for you to move forward. Practicing your self-care ritual and connecting with “your person” will give you the energy you need to accept whatever will come next.
You asked for change. You have quietly developed your talents to meet the change. Know that we all have overwhelming vexations to the spirit to deal with at some time. Man, it can knock the wind outta ya! But that is all it is. You are temporarily challenged.
Ya need a minute? Take your minute. This too shall pass.
You will get that mojo workin’ again.
Sending… Love, Light and Oceans of Bliss for the Highest Good of All.
And so it is!
