We don’t ask for any special favors. We only ask that You will let us compete in this arena as in the arena of life.  – Clem McSpadden

Netflix is a constant source of amusement and entertainment at The Brooksonian. I especially enjoy the Australian and Canadian TV content Netflix offers. Currently, I am hooked on a series from our good neighbors to the North. The show is shot in heavenly Alberta, Canada and it is called; ‘Heartland’. This family friendly magical series is corny, lovely, and addictive. The main character is a “Horse Listener” as a opposed to a Horse Whisperer. I love horses and horses love me. The show features an array of horse breeds with various skills. I don’t always agree with the roping and tackling the cowboys indulge in. I’m from the “Do Not Mess With The Animals Behavioral School.” But no animals are harmed on the show.

The Cowboy’s Prayer was quoted in an early episode. There are heaps of Cowboy’s Prayers but my favorite is written by Clem McSpadden quoted above. There is another line I particularly relish in this prayer.

” We only ask that you help us to compete in life as honest as the horses we ride. And in a manner as clean and pure as the wind that blows across this great land of ours. ”

I know it is best to keep it simple. All of it. Every single bit of the IT of life.

In an attempt to live as simply as I possibly can I have let go of many things over the years. Ideas, possessions, feelings, lovers, friends, and complicated relationships of any kind. Why would anyone hold on to a lie? If you cannot be yourself in a relationship. If you are constantly put in an uncomfortable position. A position where you have to explain your intentions because of another humans trust issues. Deal with groundless and boundless sensitivities. Mind every little thing you say or do because you are in on-going negotiations with a humorless victim. Let them go. This sort of relationship is toxic. Life is too long to engage in anything that isn’t love and loving. As I grow older I find that reciprocity is also required.

So… “help us to compete in life as honest as the horses we ride” really strikes a perfect chord for me.

If we cannot manage much else in this life. This alone is enough.

Sending Love, Light & Oceans of Bliss.
