Man appears to be the missing link between anthropoid apes and human beings. – Konrad Lorenz

We are currently living in a social and political climate where the rules of governance are being rewritten. The worst part of this equation is that they are being written without compassion. The lowest common denominating voice on earth is finally being heard. A voice that should have been silenced before it was ever given permission to grow loud.

I am not a patriot. I am a humanist.

I don’t believe in countries.

I believe in humans.

No matter how much they confuse and disappoint – I believe in humans.

I also believe in what is real. Countries are an artificial divide. They are meaningful only because the separatist fools governing them hold more power than a human can be trusted to hold. Some countries bleed with corruption. Others can be counted on to at least try to do the right thing.

We used to be one of the “try to do the right thing” countries. We used to know how to be a good friend. We no longer subscribe to the craft of friendship. Our leaders no longer believe in moral responsibility. Moral responsibility is a requirement for enduring relationships.

It is disheartening.

It is maddening.

It is what it is.

People that support a corrupt regime lose the right to whine about it when things don’t work out. An accomplice is as guilty as the perpetrator of a crime. Dysfunctional families exist due to the enablers. There will always be troubled humans looking for more trouble. Power hoarders and grifters. However, a punk can only do so much damage without a cheering section. These tawdry misfits are being spurned on now.

I don’t understand it.

I don’t want to understand it.

I wish relationships with humans were as strong and easy as the ones we forge with pets. I wish that we were all held to the same standards of decency. I wish that race and creed didn’t matter. I wish everyone was treated with the same casual sweet understanding we offer other species. It’s easy to extend kindness to a being that is devoted to you.

It should be just as easy to understand that we all want the same things. It should not be so hard to devote ourselves to making certain we all have these things.

We all want to live.

We all want to love.

We all want to thrive.

It’s a shame that we cannot see fit to honor these innate desires in each other. A shame we do not support our collective humanness.

Some people are a lot of work.

They are always the people with too much power.

Sending Love, Light & Oceans of Bliss …
